This option is for a driver who has received a traffic ticket and elects to take traffic school to avoid points, insurance penalties and retain a “safe driver” status in accordance with requirements outlined in 318.1451, Florida statutes. Any driver who elects to take this course also receives an 18% reduction in the fine. This course is state-approved by the Department Highway Safety Motor Vehicles (DHSMV). The Florida First Time Driver Class, also known as the Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education (TLSAE) Course or Drug & Alcohol course, is required by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles for all first time driver’s license applicants under Florida Statute 322.095 .
